As we head into April, we remind families that Spring (Early) Registration is just around the corner. Keep your eyes out for announcements regarding dates and process for Spring Registration – it’s a convenient way to set things up for your student in the upcoming school year.
Semester one at BDSS was exceptionally successful for our students. Way to go, Bucs! Our teaching staff, and student support team are so pleased with your efforts and look to work together with students for even greater levels of achievement in semester two.
Our athletes in the regular and para swimming events, achieved at unbelievably high levels in Windsor at this year’s OFSAA swim meet. The follow results show not only the dedication of BDSS athletes, but also of their coach, Kathaleen McNeil and of their families who worked so hard to support them, transport them and encourage them at this exciting event. Congratulations to our Para division team, who won the overall championship in their division making them the top para swimmers in Ontario for a second consecutive year. Amazing job, Bucs!
While it comes as no surprise that our BDSS Bucs wrestlers achieved at a high level this year, making it out of our region and to SOSSA and OFSSA this year, their hard work and dedication should not be overlooked. At the OFSAA meet, both Jess Tillmanns and Samantha Adams won gold, an incredible achievement for such dedicated student athletes. Reet Cahill also had a strong showing, finishing 5th in Ontario in his first year at OFSAA.
TECH SKILLS CHALLENGE
Congratulations to Chris Rose, who finished in the top 3 DSBN student chefs. Under the tutelage of Chef Claudio Marchese, Chris showed the drive, skill and attention to detail required to be one of the best in the Niagara region. Congratulations, Chris.
DELIGHTING IN OUR DIFFERENCES
A collaboration between the BDSS Social Justice League (supervised by teacher Betsy Tauro) and the SHSM Hospitality program (supervised by teacher Claudio Marchese) resulting in the “Delighting in our Differences” event held in the BDSS small gym. All BDSS students had the opportunity to sample foods from cultures around the world including Jamaica, Lebanon and Germany. Congratulations to all the students and staff who made this event such a success. BDSS values the strength that a diverse and knowledgeable student body brings to our events.
