As we head towards the winter break, it is incredible to take a step back and reflect on some of the incredible things that BDSS students have accomplished so far in the first semester of 17/18.

Our Bucs athletes are representing well both in our community and in our school.  Tryouts are now completed for girls volleyball and boys basketball, hockey & swimming.  These seasons will begin the first week of December and we are looking forward to more success from all of these teams.  The wrestling team is off to a great start in their first tournament hosted by Eden S.S.  The Bucs brought home 2 medals.  Geet Chahil won a silver medal and Samantha Adams brought home the bronze in their respective categories.  Next up for the Bucs wrestling team is the Blessed Trinity Tournament.

Over the past weekend, BDSS was represented by two of our outstanding field hockey players at the U.S. National Field Hockey Showcase.  Alex McDonald and Jessica Tillmanns were selected to attend the showcase in Florida with the A&C Field Hockey Club where their outstanding skills garnered attention from many Colleges and Universities.

Last but certainly not least, we must highlight the outstanding efforts of Kieran Lupish.  Kieran is a grade 9 student at BDSS who travelled to Sofia, Bulgaria for his first International Trampoline Gymnastics Competition.   Up against the world’s best, Kieran finished 4th place in the DMT event.  An outstanding result for his first time on the world stage.  We see big things in the future for Kieran, and are so proud of his accomplishments!

Socktober continues into December.  BDSS students are supporting the Socktober initiative from Community Care of West Niagara.  Community members are encouraged to donate new, warm, cozy socks for children, women and men to the donation bin in the BDSS office, or to Community Care of West Niagara directly.  This organization works tirelessly to support families in our community – something BDSS values very much.
