Music lovers gathered in Hendrie Park on August 22nd to enjoy a Royal Botanical Gardens outdoor concert. It was a beautiful summer evening, with the aroma of barbecued chicken wafting from the grill into the audience, and the soulful sounds of blues singer Jordan John.
The headliner, Jordan John, did not disappoint, starting off with Buffalo Springfield’s “Stop, hey, what’s that sound?” A talented vocalist, great on drums, keyboards, and guitar, John can boast a number of musical accomplishments including opening for the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, jamming on drums with the artist formerly known as Prince and more.
Brian Bates, the owner of Bates Audio and supplier of sound systems for these outdoor performances, was pleased to note the success of these concerts in terms of audience size. There were less than 100 at the very first concerts in previous years but tonight hundreds have shown up to enjoy the music and ambiance.
