The event began by acknowledging that we were meeting on aboriginal land that has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples from the beginning. This land is situated within the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nations. Many indigenous peoples have traversed this land over time, including Woodland, Haudenosaunee, Wyandot (Wendat/Huron) and Anishinaabe peoples. They acknowledged that many First Nations, Inuit, Metis and global peoples now call Mississauga home.
