Greenest City and the Parkdale community hosted Seedy Saturday, on March 3, at Bonar-Parkdale Presbyterian Church. Seedy Saturdays are annual seed exchanges, a series of gardening fairs and celebrations of seeds that occur during winter and early spring, throughout Toronto and beyond. The events originated in Canada in the early 90’s and have since spread across the world. Each Seedy Saturday hosts a seed exchange where people can donate, return or borrow free seeds and purchase seeds from local seed farmers.
Parkdale is a diverse community and our Seedy Saturday celebrated that. Aside from buying and exchange heirloom seed varieties there were interactive workshops, delicious food to sample as well as all things chocolate from ChocoSol. Children were kept busy with various activities and live music was playing will you browsed and shopped.
